"CoreHealth is all about being fun, creative and fanatical about delivering customer service.”

CoreHealth Technologies was founded in 2004 to bring the art of design and the power of technology together in new and inspiring ways to help people find their own path to wellness by living healthy lifestyles. Since then, CoreHealth has become the leading corporate wellness platform trusted by over 1,000 organizations. From medium-sized businesses to Fortune 500 companies, serving over 2 million employees worldwide in multiple languages, CoreHealth is now the standard delivery platform for wellness programs. CoreHealth is committed to helping wellness companies deliver the most engaging workplace wellness programs to their clients.

Going candid with the executives

How big is your organization today?
We have 21 employees. We don’t have managers – only autonomous employees and leaders. The leaders are not necessarily who you’d expect but rather people who take the initiative to make sure we are doing the best we can. CoreHealth is a performance-based company; there are not set working hours (Note: there are set support hours but it’s up to the Support Ninjas to ensure the hours are covered). Oh, and we have fun as you may note by our job titles. We have Support Ninjas because they get in, solve any issue, and get out so fast – you don’t even know they were there.

Tell us about your first product that was launched?
We launched the first version of our online platform, an Activity Challenge module, for several “Active Communities” in British Columbia in 2006. Shortly after, we were selected to provide the software for the Olympic Agency and Ministry of ActNow leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC. The Premier of the Province had declared he wanted BC to be the most active jurisdiction to ever host the Olympics and chose our technology as the backbone.

How do you and your company contribute to the global IT platform and society at large?
Since we are a Canadian organization, the CoreHealth Corporate Wellness Platform was built to support both French and English and Metric and Imperial measurement. This localization capability is “baked in” to the platform, along with our global data privacy expertise, make it easy to accommodate global customers. Many organizations are looking for a unified view of their employee’s health and an easy way to support their wellness initiatives globally so CoreHealth has quickly become a leader in providing healthier lives for people around the world.

What do you feel are the reasons behind your product popularity?
Our exclusive focus is on delivering technology that helps wellness providers deliver the most flexible, engaging and innovative wellness programs to their clients – fast. Because we don’t deliver wellness programs ourselves, we aren’t competing with our customers thereby enabling us to truly develop a trusting, collaborative partnership.

Customers can implement programs fast leveraging out-of-the-box solutions and easily ‘plug-in’ third-party, best-in-class tools into the platform without requiring an onsite programmer. But, if customers want to delve deeper into extensive program customization, they can do so with no limitations and unsurpassed reporting capabilities.

Platform can be translated to any language and has privacy and security levels that satisfy even the toughest standards – used by government, banks and global companies.

What kind of mixed responses have you received from your consumers over the years?
We have had to constantly evaluate our focus on remaining a technology company versus a wellness services company. Our ideal customers are organizations that deliver wellness to companies, or end-user organizations. We are frequently approached by these end-user groups to use our platform but they have high expectations for end-user support and account management services. Providing this would have caused two challenges.

Firstly, we would be competing with our ideal customers (wellness providers) which isn’t conducive to developing true partnerships which is what we strive for; and Secondly, we would have to staff up in wellness delivery, an area which is not our core expertise, which also has its risks. Our passion and knowledge is in technology first and foremost. We prefer to leave the delivery of wellness to those who are trained and talented in wellness – using our technology of course!

Do you have any new products ready to be/getting ready to be rolled out into the market?
CoreHealth is constantly innovating but more recently, has the resources to make some significant innovations. For example, return on investment (ROI) is highly controversial in the wellness industry due to the complexities of measuring improvement, especially in the short term. We are introducing a new Executive Dashboard that allows companies to prove the value of their investment (VOI) in wellness to the C-Suite easily and in a fashion they are used to.

Where do you see you and your company a couple of years from now?
With its exponential investment in ‘cool’ or ‘slick’ technology, CoreHealth is poised to support the largest global wellness programs.
