17 July, 2018

Orange Business Services, a French multinational telecommunications corporation, acquires Basefarm, an IT service management firm for $410m. The deal was announced on Monday.

“Basefarm will mark a major milestone in our international development, that will enable us to support companies as they transform onto new digital models based on cloud-computing, big data, and artificial intelligence,” said Helmut Reisinger, chief executive officer, Orange Business Services.

Following the recent purchase of Business & Decision, the acquisition of Basefarm represents an important step forward in Orange Business Services’ development strategy, said Mr Reisinger. “The addition will complement our existing services and add expertise in data management, the management of critical applications, big data and multi-cloud services, as well as extending geographical reach.”

The closing transaction of the deal will roll out during the third quarter of 2018, as per a report.

Currently, Orange has around 22,000 workers around the world. The company provides solutions in the field of big cloud computing, cybersecurity, software-defined networks, big data, IoT, unified communications, and collaboration.

France’s Orange Business Services now has a more international board, more international business, and it has now extended its international reach even further through buying data management and application services specialist Basefarm.
