Yet another acquisition of Nia...Niantic, the creators of Pokémon GO, one of the most trending games of recent years, has announced a new acquisition. Niantic has been in news with its acquisition-related achievements. Back in February, it acquired Escher Reality followed by Matrix Mill in June. This time it has successfully acquired Seismic Games, the company behind a very famous game, Marvel: Strike Force.
The Marvel games have been the most loved games amongst many gaming enthusiasts. Marvel Strike Force allows the players to build teams that can be named after all the big characters from Marvel comics.
Although nothing much about the acquisition is disclosed by either party, it is anticipated that the deal can be very helpful for Niantic as most of its games rely heavily on licensed IP. For instance, Pokémon GO and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, both the games produced by Niantic are a licensed IP game. Hence, acquiring Seismic Games, a company that has wealth of experience in licensed IP makes sense.
Seismic Games has been successful in offering games that can keep the players happy and the acquisition is a big news for Niantic as it hopes the Seismic team will be of great help to expand their business.
