Watch out Google Duplex: Microsoft develops its own Human sounding AI

Hello AI!  It is booming and trending in the industry. Earlier, Google soaked its hands with Duplex AI, and now Microsoft has unveiled its own AI to counter Google.  This week, Microsoft has revealed its new AI development at an event In London. Dubbed as “Xianco”, is a Chabot that can talk like a real person over a phone call.

“Microsoft has turned Xiaoice, which is Chinese for 'little Bing', into a friendly Bot that has convinced some of its users that the Bot is a friend or a human being”, said Satya Nadella, CEO, Microsoft.

The main purpose of creating the AI is to assist in different circumstances where a seamless conversation between a machine and a real human being is possible. Till now, Xiaoice has her own TV show, writes poetry, and it does many fascinating things.

Xianco was first announced in April this year. The AI is exclusively created for Chinese users as it can specially speak in Mandarin. It is believed that, the Chatbot has almost 500 million folks to carry out conversations through apps like We Chat and other popular messaging apps. The Chinese users have more than 16 channels.

And now it yet to be seen how well Xiaoice and Google Duplex will stand against each other and which one will be more effective in assisting human beings.

“One of the things we started doing earlier this year is having full duplex conversations. So now Xiaoice can be conversing with you in WeChat and stop and call you. Then you can just talk to it using voice”, added Mr. Nadella.
