Samsung Electronics Uses AI Al...Samsung Electronics has made an announcement that it has applied its AI algorithms to its imaging devices.
The move by the South Korean tech giant will help radiologists across the globe to carry out their diagnosis process seamlessly. During the Annual Meeting of RSNA 2018 (Radiological Society of North America) this year, the company’s medical’s affiliate- Samsung Medison have showcased different types of diagnostic imaging software.
The AI-powered devices are available for MRI, computed tomography, ultrasound, and digital radiography.
In the RSNA meeting, the company also showcased new software called S-Detect;it helps to check the breast lesions by using ultrasound images. S-Detect provides standardized reports and classifications.
According to Samsung, the new software increased the accuracy of diagnosis from 83 to 87 percent for doctors with four years or less experience.
The company’s AI software- SimGRid for digital radiology is helpful for detecting obscured lung tissues by bone in chest X-Rays.
Lung Nodule detection is another AI-based software which is exclusively designed to detect lung nodules without any complexity.
For its computed topography, Samsung developed a mobile stroke unit and the company will launch an AI-based technology for MRIs which will have the capability to provide information about the images of knee arthritis and knee cartilage thickness respectively.
The company is beefing up its AI capabilities as it has started healthcare research centers in different parts of the world, and the Canada center is the latest which was opened last month.
